Nucleic acid chemistry, molecular biology fundamentals, biochemical reagents, and human and microbial genetics. 20–25% of exam.

Laboratory Operations

Specimen handling and storage, contamination control, reagent preparation, assay validation, quality control, instrumentation, regulations, and safety. 15–20% of exam.

Molecular Techniques

Nucleic acid extraction, DNA/RNA manipulation, amplification methods (PCR), sequencing, separation and detection techniques. 30–35% of exam.

Application of Molecular Testing

Molecular diagnostics in infectious diseases, oncology, genetic disorders, identity testing, transplantation (engraftment), and pharmacogenomics. 30–35% of exam.
